The purpose of the meeting was to present Hegesco project to researchers at the Faculty of Social Sciences and to present recent trends in the field of professions by Prof. Julia Evetts. The discussion opened up interesting methodological aspects of the level of competence analysis of different professions, where the competences are best developed, use of different survey approaches and the relevance of the research findings for future policy. The final point of the discussion relevant for further research development in the field of professions opened up a question whether competences can measure the concept of professionalism.
